Active Vacations That Will Keep You Fit This Summer
Typically, summer vacations are lazy, relaxing and usually involve a lot of food, drinks and laying on the beach. However, some of us want to get up and out this summer to engage in some activities that are a bit more lively. You don’t have to forgo exercise or physical activity and park yourself in a chaise lounge all season long to enjoy yourself. There are plenty of options for energetic and spry individuals who are yearning a sense of adventure! Here’s a few ideas I have brewing of some great locations to spend your summer holiday that don’t involve sluggishness!
Hike in Yosemite
One of the most popular landmarks in California, the trail up the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park is a hike to remember. Complete with breathtaking views of the valley, this iconic hike is approximately 16 miles, taking hikers roughly 12 hours to complete. The Half Dome hike is ideal to complete with friends or family, and is definitely not an easy trek. You’ll be required to climb 400 feet up the back of the dome, using metal cables to assist you. Hence, make sure to come prepared with proper shoes and clothing, as well as food and water that will last you the entire day. Beautiful views and a substantial workout make the Half Dome an ideal vacation spot! For more information on Yosemite Valley click: www.nps.gov
Run the tropical beaches of Hawaii
There’s no doubt that the beach is a runner’s favorite when it comes to workout locations. So, it is only obvious that the beaches in Hawaii are first class spots when it comes to running! Hawaiian vacations are typically known to be relaxing, lazy and indulgent. However, just because you are in paradise does not mean you have to forgo your normal workout regime. If you’re feeling sluggish, head out to Sugar Beach, on the island of Maui. With the longest stretch of beach on the island, the sand is perfectly compact, yet still soft, perfect for a long run. A round trip run is roughly 6 miles, making Sugar Beach, Maui an ideal vacation destination for all running enthusiasts! Check out gohawaii.com for more details!
