Its officially fall, which means its time to break out the pumpkin, apples and warm spices in your daily recipes. Whether you’re hosting a weekend family dinner or are just in the mood for some cozy comfort food, my warm apple salad recipe makes the perfect sweet side dish (or even better dessert when topped with vanilla ice cream) for any occasion! Even better, it could not be any simpler. With just a few ingredients, this recipe is a sure crowd pleaser and will definitely leave everybody wanting more.
Here’s what you’ll need:
3-4 organic gala apples
1/2 cup raisins (or dried cranberries)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup organic maple syrup (or brown sugar)
2 teaspoons corn starch
*3-4 servings
Begin by peeling your apples and slicing them into small pieces.
Add them to a sauce pan, along with the maple syrup, and let simmer until bubbling.
Once bubbling, add spices and mix. Let simmer for 4 more minutes.
After 4 minutes, add corn starch, mix, and simmer for a remaining 2 minutes, until mixture is thickened in texture.
Once cooked, add in toppings such as raisins, dates, and nuts, and serve!
